Understand Free Trial and Pro Features
Understand the Free tier, the 14-day trial, Pro feature gates, and how to activate, refresh, or deactivate your license on this Mac.
This guide explains TypingVoi's plan tiers as clearly as possible so you know what is included for free, what unlocks during the 14-day trial, and what stays available with Pro after you activate a license key.
The three plan states
TypingVoi has three practical states:
FreeTrialPro
You can check the current state in Settings > License.

The License card is the source of truth for this Mac. It shows which tier is active, whether the trial is still running, and whether Pro is fully validated or temporarily running in offline grace mode.
What the Free tier includes
Free is the default state before you start a trial or activate Pro.
Free is meant for the basic live dictation workflow. You can still:
- record and stop from the menu bar
- use the main recording shortcut
- transcribe live speech into text
- use one profile for your default workflow
Free does not include the paid feature set listed later in this guide.
If you only want a simple one-profile dictation setup, Free may be enough. If you need multiple workflows, file transcription, or AI cleanup, you will need the trial or Pro.
What the 14-day trial unlocks
The Start 14-Day Trial button turns on a time-limited trial of the full Pro feature set for this Mac.
During the trial:
- TypingVoi unlocks the same gated features as Pro
- the
Licensecard showsTrial - the card also shows when the trial ends
The trial is the best way to test paid workflows before buying Pro. For example, you can use it to see whether file transcription or Cleanup AI actually improves your daily work instead of guessing from the settings alone.
When the 14 days end, TypingVoi returns to Free unless you activate Pro.
What Pro unlocks
Pro is the paid unlocked state after you activate a valid license key on this Mac.
When Pro is active:
- the
Licensecard showsPro - all Pro-gated features are unlocked on this Mac
- you can keep using those features after the trial would otherwise expire
If you already know you need the paid workflow long term, use Buy Pro, then activate the license key from the same License page.
Which features are gated
TypingVoi currently gates these items behind the 14-day trial or Pro:
- multiple profiles
- file transcription
- Cleanup AI
That means:
- If you want separate profiles for different apps, languages, or workflows, you need the trial or Pro.
- If you want to transcribe a saved audio file from
Settings > Transcribe File, you need the trial or Pro. - If you want to turn on
Run cleanupin a profile, you need the trial or Pro.
If one of these areas looks locked, the most direct fix is to start the trial or activate Pro.
How to activate a license key
Open Settings > License. If this Mac is not already on Pro, the page shows a Have a license key? field with an Activate button.
Screenshot placeholder: License activation area with the Paste license key field and Activate button visible under the License card
Use this workflow:
- Open
Settings > License. - Paste the license key into
Paste license key. - Click
Activate. - Wait for the card to refresh to
Pro.
If activation succeeds, the page shows the Pro state and a masked display key. If activation fails, the page shows an error message in the same section.
Common reasons activation can fail:
- the key was pasted with a typo or extra spaces
- the key is not valid
- the Mac cannot reach the license service right now
If the problem looks temporary, use Refresh after checking your connection.
What Deactivate This Mac does
Deactivate This Mac removes the current Pro activation from this Mac.
Use it when:
- you are moving Pro to another Mac
- you are replacing this Mac
- you want to clear the current activation before activating again
After deactivation:
- this Mac no longer stays on Pro from that activation
- the
Licensepage can return toFreeor another non-Pro state - you can activate again later with a valid key
Only use deactivation when you actually want to remove Pro from the current machine.
What Refresh does
Refresh asks TypingVoi to check the current license status again.
Use Refresh when:
- you just activated a license and want to confirm the state
- the page says the last validation failed
- you have reconnected to the internet after being offline
- you want the current Mac to re-check its Pro status manually
This does not buy or activate Pro by itself. It only refreshes the current license state for this Mac.
How offline grace works
TypingVoi includes an offline grace period for Pro after a successful validation. In the current app, that grace window is 7 days.
Practical behavior:
- if Pro was validated successfully before you went offline, TypingVoi can keep Pro active for a limited time while it cannot reconnect
- the
Licensecard can show that Pro is active in offline grace mode - when the app reconnects, use
Refreshif you want to force a new check immediately
Offline grace is a fallback, not a permanent offline license mode. If Pro cannot be validated again after the grace window ends, TypingVoi can fall back to Free.
How to read the license card states
The text on the License card helps explain what is happening:
Freemeans this Mac is using the free tier.Trialmeans the 14-day trial is active.Promeans the Mac has active Pro access.Trial ended. You're back on Free.means the trial expired and Pro was not activated. The last validation failed. Try refreshing.means Pro needs a fresh check.Pro is active in offline grace modemeans the app is temporarily honoring a previously validated Pro state while offline. This Mac was deactivated. You can activate again anytime.means Pro was removed from this Mac and can be reactivated later.
If you are unsure what to do next, start by reading the message on the card before changing anything else.
When to use Free, trial, or Pro
Use Free if you only need basic live dictation with one profile.
Use the 14-day trial if you want to evaluate:
- multiple profiles for different apps or languages
- file transcription for saved audio
- Cleanup AI for polishing transcripts
Use Pro if those workflows are already part of your normal setup and you want them to stay unlocked after the trial ends.

If you are deciding whether the paid tier is worth it, test one real workflow with the 14-day trial first: either Transcribe Audio Files on Mac or Clean Up Transcripts With AI.
